Coachella Hair Diaries: How to Go from Days 1 to 3 (and stay fresh-ish)

Let’s face it: Music festivals are a dirty affair—especially for your hair. When you’ve got nowhere to wash, rinse, or repeat, keeping it looking fresh (let alone clean) for a three-day festival can be tricky, but not if you know how to style it. Hiding those greasy strands is all about using a few essential products and crafting looks that mask any sin while boosting your style. Major improvements ahead.

Brand Suggestion: Before you hit the grounds

Every festi girl knows, you wash before you go—showers aren’t a basic rite on show grounds. The cleaner your hair, the longer it’ll last. So, if you’re planning on a three-day show, lather like you mean it, and with a shampoo/ conditioner that cleans your hair as it conditions. Either air-dry or rough dry using your fingers to get those low-maintenance, high-style festival vibes.

Brand Suggestion: Cuvée Shampoo and Conditioner. The gentle system removes dirt, oil, and build-up from your scalp without stripping your hair. Skincare-grade nutrients and antioxidants condition and protect, leaving your scalp healthy and your hair conditioned, shiny, and smooth.

Day 1: Rough it up

Chances are you danced like a boss All. Night. Long, so your a.m. strands now have a natural tousle thanks to a major sweat sesh. Encourage that lived-in look by using a styling spray along the length, scrunching and jujing with abandon to get a sexy, rolled-out-of-bed effect.

Brand Suggestion: Cuvée Champagne Spray. Liquid tousle in a bottle. It’s designed to create those enviable messy-sexy waves. Plus, the formula is weightless, which means it won’t weigh down your increasingly greasy mane, and actually conditions your hair healthy in the dry desert heat. Thank, Cuvée Complex.

Day 2: Give rise to greatness

After two days crowd surfing and sleeping with your head against Mother Earth, your hair is looking more like a slick helmet than actual hair. To give those lifeless locks some oomph again and build body, refresh your roots with a volumizing mist. Then take a small section of hair on both sides of your head, twist each to the back, join strands together, and secure with bobby pins for a breezy boho look.

Brand Suggestion: Cuvée Volumizing Mist, It’s lightweight and lifts hair at the root. Just spritz and massage. Excuse us, but deeeevine style.

Day 3:

You’ve made it this far sans a shower, and your hair is D.I.R.T.Y. Do not, we repeat, do not wear it down. At this point, the less contact you have with it the better. Trust. You already have a wet look going. French braid front from crown of head. Secure the rest in a top knot. Bun and done!

Sleep ya next year!
