HOW TO BE A BEAUTY CHAMELEON

May 23, 2018
Let’s face it, having the same look. All. The. Time. Is boring. The beauty of makeup and haircare is that it’s so customizable: You can be whoever you want whenever you feel like it—just-woke-up-like-this cool, all about edgy, decidedly glam. So, whether you’re a one-trick pony or need a little inspo to break out of your recent beauty rut, here are four ways to change things up like a pro. The best part is: no glam squad is required.
Everyday Effortless

Low-maintenance doesn’t have to mean rolling out of bed and haphazardly tying your hair in a bun. With minimal effort, you can achieve second-day waves that have breezy, lived-in vibes that look natural. A texturizing spray like Cuvée Champagne Spray is your secret weapon for styling them. Create a middle part and use the spray liberally along the length of your hair from root to tip, roughing up your hair as you go to encourage more tousle. If your hair is naturally straight, you can create more defined waves by wrapping hair around a 1-inch iron, alternating directions. Warm up your complexion with a bronzer such as NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna on the high planes of the face—forehead, cheeks, and chin—for a natural sun-kissed glow and finish with a swipe of a juicy-hued lippy like Glossier Balm Dotcom in Cherry.

A night out on the town deserves a look that’s a little more polished. A deep-side part with subtle, uniform waves delivers the sexy in a sophisticated way that’s anything but stiff. Getting volume at the crown is key so your hair won’t fall flat in the process. On wet hair, spray Cuvée Volumizing Mist at the root and massage it in to build thickness. Blow dry with a round brush, encouraging ends to curl under. Using a larger 1.25-inch curling iron, hold it horizontally and curl 1-inch sections around your head going from ear level down, making sure the wave pattern goes in the same direction. Then brush through. Load on lashes with a volumizing mascara like Dior Diorshow, brushing through towards the outer corners of the eyes to mimic a cat eye effect. Sweep a pop of color like Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic in Love Glow onto the apples of the cheeks and add a glossy berry-hued lip like Bite Beauty Prismatic Pearl Crème Lip Gloss in Rose Pearl to top off the look.
Fashion Forward

In the runway world, it’s hard to find a catwalk without a slicked-back style or two slaying the fashion scape. The look, however, can sometimes seem intimating or all too avant guard. This iteration is a more wearable take, thanks to a structural side part. Keep in mind, the sleek-meets-chic look works best on shorter-to-shoulder length styles—on longer hair, it can read as greasy and stringy. Part wet hair into a deep side part, apply Cuvée Styling Balm, which provides long-wearing hold without stiffness. Use a fine-tooth comb to define the look from root to tips. Play up the drama with a smudge of eyeliner just at the outer corners using a chubby pencil like Kat Von D Basket Case Anti-Precision Eyeliner.
Flirty Braid

A ribbon-tied side braid is a girly yet on-trend twist to a simple plait that’s perfect for day or night. Bonus: The style looks so pulled together even when you don’t have time to wash and dry your hair. Simply spray Cuvée Champagne Spray along the length to create texture and hold so the braid won’t be too tightly wound. Fashion the braid on one side of your head, starting at ear level and working your way down. Secure with an elastic and tie with ribbon. Let any loose pieces fall where they will to keep the look a bit undone. Pull the braid apart to make it even more effortless. Enhance it with a pop of pink blush like Too Faced Peach My Cheeks Melting Powder Blush in So Peachy on the apples of the cheeks and on the lips.
