5 Tips For Dry, Damaged Hair

August 16, 2018
For some, long luscious traffic-stopping locks are a product of genetics; for most of us, strong, shiny strands are a work in progress. Thanks to environmental stressors like the sun, which can dry out your hair, heat styling, chemical treatments, and poor diet, your hair can take a beating and look and feel dehydrated, brittle, and limp. The struggle is real. With some essential product know-how and a few expert tips, you can easily nurse your hair back to life, so you can be the one stopping traffic.

Use a power-packed cleansing system
Choosing a shampoo and conditioner that’s fortified with nourishing ingredients is key to a healthy scalp. Cuvée Shampoo and Conditioner combine nutrients, skincare-grade ingredients, and Champagne extracts to fortify strands, boost body, and enhance shine leaving your scalp healthy and your hair conditioned, shiny, and smooth. These ingredients not only give you immediate benefits, but they repair and protect on a cellular level to encourage growth and give you stronger, healthier, more gorgeous hair over time. Clinical studies have shown that after using the Cuvée Shampoo and Conditioning system hair was 2x stronger, 4x smoother, and had 50 percent less breakage.

Comb with care
When your hair is wet, it’s more prone to breakage, especially since it’s often knotty after getting out of the shower. Contrary to popular belief, running a comb through it from root to tip is not the way to smooth out your strands. Using a wet brush or a wide-tooth comb, work through hair starting at the ends and going up to the roots section by section. This way, you’re not encouraging knots to form at the ends of your hair or making them worse.

Take a hot tool break
All that blow drying, curling, and flat ironing can take a toll on your hair, causing it to become dry, damaged, frizzy, and more prone to breakage. The summer is the best excuse to embrace your natural texture and let your hair air dry, so it has a chance to get back some of those natural oils it’s likely been losing. Mix a potent elixir like Cuvée Essential Booster with your shampoo and conditioner for added shine and manageability. It’s infused with skincare-grade ingredients along with moisturizing hyaluronic acid and B vitamins to nourish your strands. You can also use it on dry hair for added smoothness and shine.

Eat a balanced diet
Stronger, longer, healthier hair also takes some TLC from the inside out. Eating protein-rich foods helps produce more keratin, the essential protein that keeps hair healthy and strong. If you’re protein deficient, your hair can really shed and lack luster. Zinc is another essential nutrient, which helps make keratin. Foods like poultry, beef, and oysters are loaded with both zinc and protein. And opt for omelets: eggs contain protein and biotin, which is important for strong hair and nails.

Get more Vitamin C
Aside from helping to prevent breakage, Vitamin C helps bolster collagen in both hair and skin. Not getting enough Vitamin C can cause dry, brittle hair that breaks easily. Fruits like pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, and watermelon are all rich in Vitamin C, as are veggies like bell peppers. Throw some berries in your yogurt, munch on bell peppers in between meals, or have some watermelon for dessert. You are what you eat.
